* Won 3 consecutive California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Championships Ð representing all private and public high schools in the state of California.
* Won 4 out of the last 5 CIF-State Championships Ð 2005, 2007, 2008 & 2009 (you may confirm the details at the www.cif-state.org website). Torrance HS finished as the Runner-Up in 2006.

* Won 4 out of the last 5 CIF-WSCGA State Southern California Regional Championship Ð for all the schools from Central California to the southern border Ð 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2009. Torrance HS finished as the Runner Up in 2008.

* Won 4 out of the last 5 CIF-Southern Section (CIF-SS) Girls Golf Team Championships (you may confirm at www.cifss.org and look through the history book- online PDF file) Ð 2005, 2006, 2008 & 2009. Torrance HS finished as the Runner-Up in 2007. The CIF-Southern Section is as big as some states as it covers teams from Santa Barbara through Palm Springs (excluding LA City Section which does not have the same prestige in golf as the teams of LA County that compete for the CIF-Southern Section).

* Won 4 out of the last 5 CIF-SS Divisional Championships 2005, 2006, 2007, & 2008 with Runner-Up Finishes in 2004 & 2009.
* Won 16 CIF Championship Trophies & 4 CIF Runner Up Trophies in our last 20 one day tournaments stretching back to 2005. In 2004, Torrance HS won our first CIF-SS Team Divisional Trophy.

* Won 8 straight Ocean League Championships and 8 consecutive undefeated Ocean League campaigns stretching over 70 dual matches.
* 3 CIF-State Individual Champions in Jane Rah 2005, Jenny Shin 2008 & 2009 plus 2 CIF-State Individual Runner Up finishes with Angela Park 2005 & Jane Rah 2005.

* CIF-SS Individual Champion Angela Park 2003.

* Pro & Collegiate Alumni Ð Angela Park (Class of 2006) is currently on the LPGA and won the 2007 LPGA Rookie of the Year Award. Angela has earned over 2 million in over 3 years on tour. Jane Rah (Class of 2009) and Jenny Shin (Class of 2010) have qualified through q-school to compete In the Duramed Futures Tour Ð the developmental tour for the LPGA with exemptions.

Julie Cho (Class of 2006) competed 2 seasons for Cal-State Northridge, Jennel Alexander (Class of 2008 Ð the only senior) earned a full scholarship to Div I Lamar University in Texas, Jane Rah (Class of 2009) earned a full ride to Oklahoma State, Demi Runas (Class of 2009) earned scholarship money to UC-Davis and Rochelle Chan (Class of 2010) won a scholarship to Long Beach State.

Despite losing 2 key seniors and 2 of our top 4 golfers in Jenny Shin & Rochelle Chan, Torrance HS returns 6 varsity level golfers plus expects contributions from another JV golfer.

The returning golfers feature 9 hole scoring averages of 35.9 (Frosh w/ low of 31 on a par 36), 38 (Junior Ð 1 under season best during league play), 40.7 (Junior Ð even par season best during league play), 40.8 (Soph Ð 3 over season best during league play), 41.1 (Soph Ð 3 over season best in league play), 42 (Soph Ð 1 over season best in league play) and 42 (Junior Ð 2 over season best in JV play). With a chance of all golfers improving, the team has a chance to compete at the highest levels. It will take hard work and growth from the entire team, but we faced a similar challenge last year.

Our program strives to find the right balance for individuals to succeed to their potential with both team practice opportunities and the incorporation of independent schedules into the program. The program has always been flexible in working with each golfer. All golfers are given a chance to compete for a varsity spot (a rotation of 8 to 9 golfers during the season) to arrive at the final 6 golfers for the CIF-SS post-season run.

Last year, Torrance HS featured 8 varsity golfers and 11 JV golfers. Torrance HS features the support of a Long Beach State Professor & THS Asst. Coach Kevin Sverduk who teaches about the mental game of golf and helping athletes of all sports reach their potential. Coach Sverduk coached tennis at the University of the Pacific prior to teaching at Long Beach State.
